Jeezy opens up on his decision to part ways with Jeannie Mai

Jeezy revealed God has chosen him to follow a different path from her estranged wife Jeannie Mai, noting he does not expect others to follow in his footsteps.

The American rapper exchanged vows with the TV host, 44, in an intimate ceremony at their home in Atlanta in March 2021, as reported by Vogue.

But in a twist of fate, two years later on September 15 the Leave You Alone crooner filed for divorce from Jeannie Camtu Mai, widely known as Jeannie Mai.

During an interview with Nia Long, the Soul Survivor vocalist shared in an interview that was released on Tuesday, November, 7,“This has not been an easy journey.”

After sharing that that he attempted to go to therapy to fix his marital woes, Jeezy, 46, told Long, 53, that he came to realize that he can “only be responsible for [himself]”

He went on to say, “I can tell you that I’m saddened. I can tell you I’m disappointed. I can tell you that I’m uneasy.”

“I can only do what I can do. I can’t expect someone else to do what I’m doing, “ he added.

Born as Jay Wayne Jenkins, famously known as Jeezy, then took a more spiritual approach and said, he believed, “God has put [him] on a different path” than the one he was on with his estranged wife.

“And that path is going to entail for me to take care of myself. And love myself,” he insisted.

During an exclusive interview with Page Six, Jeezy seemingly pointed out that his decision to split from wife may have surprised the people but it is not something that he decided to do on a whim.

He said that this “decision to end this chapter in [his life] was not made impulsively and comes with a heavy heart.”

The Trap or Die rapperadded, “Despite this, my love and respect for Jeannie remains and the time we spent together holds a cherished place in my heart.”
