Tyler Christopher 'General Hospital' alum dies at 50 

Tyler Christopher, popular character from soap opera, General Hospital, has died at the age of 50.

Chi Muoi Lo, Christopher’s representative, confirmed to CNN in a statement that the actor died on Tuesday morning, October 31.

It began, “This news was incredibly shocking, and I am devastated by his loss. He was a very gifted actor, and more importantly, an amazing friend.”

"My heart goes out to his friends and family who loved him so much,” the rep concluded the statement.

Christopher, who played the role of Nikolas Cassadine in the daytime show, received tribute from his co-star Maurice Benard.

He took to Instagram to share his grief, “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”

Benard, 60, added, “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting. Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him.”

He also noted, “Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol.”

The teary tribute concluded, “We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father.”

Christopher was best known for his role on General Hospital, in which he starred as Cassadine several times between 1996 to 2016. He also won a Daytime Emmy Award for his performance, including four more nominations.
