Dua Lipa has a long way to go before she thinks about expanding her family.
In a cover story for Vogue France, the Don’t Start Now singer weighed in on the prospect of embracing motherhood anytime soon.
Acknowledging the significance of family, Lipa gushed about her own close relationship with her parents and living grandparents, saying, “Family is so precious.”
However, she didn’t seem too sure when asked if she was planning on having children one day. “Hmm, maybe. But nothing’s planned!” she said.
The New Rules crooner went on to confess she is already busy with her one “baby” in her life, who gets all her care and attention. “The only baby I’m thinking about is my new album,” she quipped.
The comment prompted the Grammy winner to acknowledge the change in society that offers women agency over their bodies and a choice to choose the right time to have children.
“I think that women have acquired a place in society that was forbidden before. And yet, has the desire to have children disappeared? I think women want to do things at their own pace, and not feel guilty for thinking of themselves,” she pondered.
She added, “For me, when the moment is right, I will know. But, until then, I have other priorities. I want to continue making the most of my youth,” Lipa added.
Despite the radical breakthrough, the Barbie actress didn’t turn a blind eye to the existing issues in society. “I also see this endless criticism of women’s choices. It’s like navigating a minefield from the very beginning,” she said. “For me, it’s really important to respect women’s choices, whatever they are.”
