Usher calls Keke Palmer's Outfit Controversy a 'Pop Moment'

Usher "pops" up to address outfit controversy sparked by Keke Palmer's boyfriend at Vegas Concert.

Amidst recent headlines over an outfit controversy involving Keke Palmer and her boyfriend Darius Jackson during Usher's Las Vegas residency, the 44-year-old "Yeah!" singer is now speaking out to clarify the situation.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Usher aimed to distance himself and his show from the drama, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of the event.

Usher shared, "I think everybody's vision or a version of what they felt happened there just leads you back to just really having a good time in Las Vegas. And that's what I hope came out of it." 

He clarified, "Rather, it was a conversation of what was going on with us having fun in front of the audience or conversation about that song."

The incident in question unfolded when Keke Palmer, known for her roles in the entertainment industry, was serenaded by Usher during one of his performances.

Social media exploded in July when her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, reposted a photo of her donning a sheer black dress over a black bodysuit. In his caption, Jackson remarked, "It's the outfit tho ... you a mom."

In a subsequent post, he reiterated his stance, expressing concerns about family representation and his standards for attire. 

Darius stated, "We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn't want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is." 

He firmly concluded, "This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case."

In a Twitter post, Palmer expressed her truth, stating, "One thing is certain and one thing is true, I'M A MOTHER, through and through!" 

She engaged her fellow moms by asking, "To all my moms out there, how did your baby change you?" 

Further, she celebrated the empowerment she experienced through motherhood, saying, "Mine empowered me! On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good, I'm GREAT! Look at that face! Gratitude galore."
