Adam Brody revealed he audition for the role of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord in the MCU.
Speaking to Variety in the wake of his latest film River Wild, the actor explained that he was interested in playing the role of the half-human, half-God cosmic superhero.
The role eventually went on to Chris Pratt, who appeared in various films as the character since debuting in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
“I wanted that one,” Brody told the outlet, admitting that Pratt was a “better” fit as “he is bigger, stronger, but tonally, I really dug it.”
Nevertheless, the former OC star is a part of the DC Universe as he plays the superhero version of Jack Dylan Grazer’s character, Freddy, in Shazam films.
Funny enough, Brody’s Shazam! co-star Zachary Levi also auditioned for the role of Star-Lord, as did Glen Howerton as well as Michael Rosenbaum.
Pratt ended up bagging the classic role, and with the collaboration of James Gunn and his other Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars, went on to produce one of the best trilogies in the MCU.
During the interview, Brody also reflected on the rising trend of method acting, branding it “[expletive] boring than anything.”
“It sounds ungodly boring, but hats off to them. Hats off to people that don’t watch their stuff, are Method… I don’t know, is it lacking that I can turn it off so quickly? I don’t know. I’m more comfortable this way. And it just seems so profoundly uncomfortable and also boring,” he expressed.
