Olivia Rodrigo is prepared to provide all the juicy secrets about her next album.
The 20-year-old singer revealed the tracklist for her forthcoming album, Guts, which will be released on September 8, in a cryptic video on Monday.
The minute-long clip features an overhead image of Rodrigo relaxing in a bedroom full of potential song title hints. She works on household duties, unpacks boxes, writes on paper, and uses her typewriter before the camera zooms in on the piece of paper she is typing on to see the words "GUTS tracklist."
Rodrigo sings an unpublished song at the end of the video, which some fans have speculated might be a preview of a song from the next album.
The set had a number of terms and phrases that her most observant fans began to notice as they tried to understand the hidden clues and Easter eggs that might have been track names.
The four typewriter keys that spell out the album's title with purple gems over the letters are the most obvious indicator, suggesting that the album will probably contain a song with the same name.
The words "Bad idea right" scrawled in lipstick on a mirror, "stranger" scribbled over music notation, and "obsessed!" written across the front of a sweatshirt are additional cues. Additionally, Rodrigo's display of a yearbook on the bed provides viewers with a clear view of the phrase "Book club."
However, even with fans employing their "FBI/detective skills," some hints are simpler to understand than others.
Halfway through the film, Rodrigo inserts a birthday cake and number of candles on top of it, but viewers can't decide if the candles are 18 or 19. On the floor, there is additional text that is strewn across a skateboard, but it is too difficult to understand what it says.
Despite some of the hints being challenging, Rodrigo's fans are still trying to decipher the codes used by the Driver's License singer. One person on Twitter, now known as X, wrote, "sigh, time to spend my lunch break decoding this."
