Ariana Grande's marriage breakdown with Dalton Gomez was pinned on the singer’s latest project, Wicked.
As per insiders, the singer's relationship with her real-estate husband became tense after she went headfirst into her role as Glinda in the film version of the Broadway musical Wicked, which was filmed in London.
The pair reportedly spent a lot of time together during the pandemic however in the aftermath of it Gomez was not used to his now former wife's busy schedule, causing a rift in their relationship.
"They got together during the pandemic, so Dalton wasn't used to dealing with her in full work mode," a source said.
"He was understanding at first, but his patience eventually wore out.
"She's been a fan of the musical for years, and this was her dream project, so she really threw herself into the part. She was working long hours and trying not to speak when she was off set in hopes of preserving her voice," the source claimed.
However, their distance resulted in a major fight that led to the singer throwing the towel which Gomez was not willing to do.
"They had an epic fight that lasted all night," the insider spoke of the pair.
"There were a lot of tears, and Ariana walked out.
"Ariana decided not to prolong the inevitable."
Meanwhile, pals close to the pop singer were reportedly happy for her calling off the relationship.
"They thought he was using her for fame," the source explained.
This comes after news of Grande's new blossoming romance with her Wicked costar, Ethan Slater — who is allegedly still married to his estranged wife Lilly Jay.
"Ariana's already moving on," a source said at the time.
"Ariana and Dalton separated in January,
"She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife."
