Fans of the Saw franchise should brace themselves for "the most disturbing instalment yet."
The following is the official summary for the upcoming 10th film in the venerable series, starring Tobin Bell as John Kramer, also known as Jigsaw: "Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable."
The recently released Saw X video teases the start of John's trip, his terrible enlightenment, and what he decides to do as a result. It seems like a fresh round of brutality, mental agony, and lethal survival games taking place.
Lionsgate's distributor describes its plot as "Jigsaw's most personal game" in its synopsis. "Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps."
Shawnee Smith, Synnve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, and Michael Beach co-star in Saw X, which was written by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger and directed by Kevin Greutert, who also helmed Saw VI and Saw 3D. Bell is repeating his part as the infamous engineer-turned-murderer for which he is most known, while Smith is playing the perilous Amanda Young.
Lionsgate said on July 20 during this year's San Diego Comic-Con that Saw X has been moved up to a September 29 theatrical release from its original late October release date.
