As she phrased it, Megan Fox is speaking up after being accused of "being miserly or lacking generosity."
Commenters criticised the actress, 37, for the seeming faux pas of not publicly contributing to the cause herself after she used her platform to promote a GoFundMe page for the sick father of friend Brittney Boyce.
Fox responded to critics on social media and Reddit who had noted she wasn't listed among the GoFundMe site's donations ("as if she isn't rich as f--- and could help their friend immediately," tweeted one), in an Instagram story post published on Thursday.
"Hey weirdos," she wrote. "Do any of you have the emotional intelligence to consider that maybe [Boyce] doesn’t want her celebrity clients donating large sums of money to her because it creates a dynamic in her working relationships that makes her uncomfortable?"
She claimed that Boyce had requested that Fox post a link to the "Michael's Medical Expenses" fundraiser, which is intended to pay for Boyce's father's medical expenses following a recent pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
The Transformers and Jennifer's Body star shared a screenshot of the GoFundMe page on Monday with the remark, "If you guys are able to help please do."
In her tweet on Thursday, Fox stated that she hoped to inspire her followers to "donate small amounts of money to help them reach their goal," purportedly under Boyce's desires.
"I just obliged her request," Fox continued. "Anything she needs from me personally she will ask and [I] will do it privately. One thing you’re not going to accuse me of is being miserly or lacking generosity."
She concluded: "So try again on another day (probably [tomorrow]!) with some different bulls--- you bunch of psychos."
Boyce, a manicurist, founded Nails of LA, a business that sells press-on nail wraps and extensions. In the GoFundMe page's description, she called her father "literally the best person, dad, husband, and grandpa."
