Greta Gerwig secretly welcomes baby no. 2 ahead of Barbie release

Greta Gerwig is relishing a personal blessing amid her professional success.

The 39-year-old filmmaker revealed in a new interview that she embraced motherhood for the second time with Noah Baumbach four months ago.

Speaking to Elle UK, Gerwig announced the arrival of her baby boy, saying: "He’s a little Schmoo. That’s very much his energy. He’s a wise little baby."

The Barbie director went on to explain that she has been in a "twilight state" since the baby’s birth despite the little one "sleeping through the night."

She explained, "I’m still doing that thing where I wake up every hour to 90 minutes and just hover. You just keep wanting to look at that baby."

Gerwig first unveiled her baby bump during her appearance at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences 13th Governors Awards last year, however, she complained that "nobody cared" about it.

"It didn’t get reported on," she lamented at Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in December 2022. "Turns out, nobody's paying attention to you."

The Lady Bird director is already a mother to son Harold, 4, whom she shares with Baumbach.

The pair has largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. They began dating in 2011 and Gerwig referred to him as her "fiancé" in 2020.

The screenwriter is currently experiencing a whirlwind of fame with the release of the anticipated blockbuster Barbie only days away.

The fantasy comedy film stars Margot Robbie in the titular character alongside Ryan Gosling’s Ken.
