Nothing Phone 2 has some new things to offer with its trademark back LED.

The Nothing Phone 2's design, which depicts a very similar phone with some noticeable tweaks, has finally been shown just weeks before its release.

The design was exclusively introduced by YouTuber Marques Brownlee earlier today in a video that included a useful side-by-side comparison to the original Nothing Phone 1, which was released in June 2022.

The preview focused on the design of the next phone, which carried over the original Nothing Phone 1's flat-sided appearance and an upgrade to the light-up glyph design on the back, rather than any software changes.

The greatest design difference to the Nothing Phone 2 is in the LEDs, which are still in the same general glyph shape as the original but split apart into many smaller ones. The old phone's black rear cover has been replaced with a grey one.

The new phone includes 33 LEDs instead of the 12 on the back of the Nothing Phone 1, which can still be configured using the phone's software, according to Brownlee.

Nothing appears to have focused on these LEDs because 16 of the 33 are arranged in a single long arc near the top of the rear cover, which may be utilised as a progress bar when the volume is changed using the buttons on the side of the phone.

You can also set a timer to gradually darken the arc. According to Brownlee, the ride-sharing app Uber and the food app Zomato, both based in India, have already signed up, thus there are no plans to make this functionality available for notifications from other parties.

Other glyph components allow for greater customization. For example, you might programme a sequential light-up pattern to serve as your own unique ringtone or keep one strip lit until you respond to notifications.
