Kate Middleton knows how to pay her respects.
The Order of the Garter celebrated its annual service and procession at Windsor Castle on Monday, when the Princess of Wales, 41, stood behind the royal family. Princess Kate saw the procession to St. George's Chapel from the side because she is not a Companion of the Order.
Kate expertly maintained her balance as she dipped into a curtsy and put one foot in front of the other as King Charles and Queen Camilla passed by wearing blue mantles (robes) and caps covered in ostrich feathers.
Following the service, King Charles, 74, and Queen Camilla, 75, departed in their carriage, and Kate curtsied once more on the steps outside St. George's Chapel, this time with Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, while Prince William and Prince Edward nodded their heads in bows.
Members of the family frequently greet one another with reverence, with males customarily bowing their heads and ladies dipping into a curtsy, just as ordinary citizens may choose to do when encountering a monarch.
