Elliot Page unveils secret romance with Kate Mara in bombshell memoir

Elliot Page has opened up about his secret relationship with his My Days of Mercy co-star in his new memoir.

In an excerpt obtained by People, the Canadian actor revealed in his memoir, Pageboy, that he dated actress Kate Mara while she was publicly in a relationship with Max Minghella.

"This was right after I'd come out as gay and it was a time of exploration and also heartbreak,” he wrote in the book.

The Umbrella Academy actor went on to explain his attraction for Mara by correlating it with a dynamic he has “consistently found” himself in, which was “falling for people that — I think a lot of us do this — who aren't fully available.”

At the time Page and Mara secretly dated, the latter had been together with the Babylon star for nearly four years.

According to Page, Mara told him: "I never thought I could be in love with two people and now I know I can."

The House of Cards actress ended up splitting from Minghella in late 2014, and moved on with her now-husband Jamie Bell.

Meanwhile, Page tied a knot with dancer Emma Portner and divorced in 2021.

Despite their peculiar relationship at the time, Page and Mara remain close friends; as the former shared with People: "I think the love and care that we have for each other is its very own special thing."

“Separate from the intimacy that I write about," he added.
