Robert Downey Jr. is mesmerized by Christopher Nolan’s vision.

The critically-acclaimed auteur is set to bring another one of his masterpieces to silver screens as the world gears up for the release of Oppenheimer next month.

Starring Cillian Murphy in the titular role, Nolan brought together an ensemble of A-listers, including Downey, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, and Emily Blunt among others.

In a featurette uploaded on IMAX’s official YouTube channel, the Iron Man star gushed about Nolan’s approach to shooting the film, saying, “I was sitting in the back of a ‘47 Packard with an IMAX mag on my lap trying to get this driving shot and I just felt like I went back to some Origins of Great Cinema School.”

“Because you know these lenses are coming at you and they're this close and it wakes you up,” he marveled.

Downey plays the role of Lewis Strauss, chairman of the US Atomic Energy Commission, who often found him against the ideologies of Oppenheimer in real life.

Speaking to Total Film, Nolan had some acclaim for the actor of his own. "We all know that Robert Downey Jr. is one of the great movie stars. It’s so easy to forget that he’s also one of the greatest actors of all time.”

“Watching him lose himself in that performance, and completely lose himself in a character in this way, was just an incredible reminder of just what an amazing actor he is,” the director effused.
