Former Idol Found Guilty of 'Sexual Assaulting' Fellow Member

Former member of a popular six-member male idol group has been sentenced to a suspended prison term in the first trial for sexually assaulting and molesting a fellow member. 

The ruling was delivered by the 29th Division of Criminal Agreement of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Seung-jeong.

Identified as A (25), the accused faced charges of indecent assault and similar rape.

As a result, A has been sentenced to a term of 2 years and 6 months in prison, which has been suspended, along with 3 years of probation. 

In addition, the court mandated A's completion of an 80-hour sexual assault treatment program, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation in addressing such offenses.

The trial proceedings shed light on the disturbing allegations of sexual assault within the idol group, highlighting the need for accountability and justice.

Mr. A, a former member of a male idol group, has been found guilty of charges related to indecent assault during his trial. 

The alleged incidents took place in the group's accommodation and practice room between 2017 and 2021. 

It was revealed that Mr. A resigned from group activities following the incident.

During the trial, Mr. A admitted to the allegation of indecent assault and expressed remorse for his actions.

However, he denied the allegation of similar rape. Despite his denial, the judge overseeing the case determined Mr. A to be guilty on all charges, stating, "The victim's statement is specific and consistent."

The judge further elaborated, stating, "Considering the method and frequency of the crimes committed, as well as the age of the victim, the severity of the offense is significant."
