Kate Middleton has reportedly been given King Charles' "blessing" to take the public's attention from him.
Writing for DailyMail royal expert Robert Jobson said that the monarch came to the realisation that in order for the royal family to remain relevant Kate must step in to ensure that the public remains interested, even at the expense of the King.
Jobson wrote: "Whilst it is Charles's head that wears the crown, it is William, Catherine and their children that will steal the limelight. They are bound to. And it is right."
He added: "This time, it will be with Charles's blessing - for he knows for monarchy to survive it must be relevant to the younger generation."
"There is no doubt that Charles's position as the paterfamilias is established."
