Venom 3 is getting an expert in on the team.
Superheroes and big action scenes are nothing new to director and cinematographer Fabian Wagner. Sony's Venom 3 will be shot by the director of The Justice League and Game of Thrones, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to his work assisting Zack Snyder in (finally) realising his vision for his superhero team-up, he will bring a highly suitable skill set to the project, including the ability to create some of the most heart-pounding action set pieces ever seen on television.
The Emmy-nominated Wagner, who directed "Battle of the Bastards," one of the best Game of Thrones episodes ever, will collaborate with Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage scribe. Kelly Marcel, will be directing for the first time in this project. Naturally, Tom Hardy is back as Eddie Brock/Venom, everyone's favourite investigative reporter/alien symbiote duo. Together with Hardy, Marcel will co-write the script for the film she will direct.
Wagner said about his work on Zack Snyder's Justice League. Zack Snyder hired Wagner in part because he admired his performance in the epic Game of Thrones. Wagner has lensed episodes of Sherlock and The Crown, as well as his comfort with working on maximalist epics.
Venom continues to be one of the most unique, eccentric antiheroes in the Sony/Marvel universe, and although his desire for devastation is outsized, so, too, is his affinity for a quip. With Venom 3, he'll probably get to exercise all his cinematography muscles.
The release date for Venom 3 is set for October 2024.
