Kate Middleton became the victim of an "obscene" joke in a new drama called Citadel.
The crime boss show, which stars Meghan Markle's close friend Priyanka Chopra, pegged the Princess of Wales in a joke which royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams dubbed "surreal".
In the show's third episode, Chopra's character, an espionage agent Nadia Sinh, gave her partner Mason Kane/ Kyle Conroy, played by Richard Madden, instructions through an earpiece on a meeting with crime leader, Sen Monro’s Balduino Basto.
In the meeting with the crime boss, the actress said to the other character, "The chief of armed forces? You might as well have asked me how to get between the legs of the Duchess of Cambridge!"
The royal expert told The Sun: "It is absolutely surreal that anybody would stoop to obscene comments.
"It’s quite extraordinary. I think it’s shocking.
"Amazon must explain what obscenities to real people, to members of the royal family, are doing in their film."
While the dialogue itself was considered inappropriate, it ruffled some feathers considering Chopra's association to Markle.
As per reports, Chopra has been close friends with the Suits alum for years and their relationship was deepened further considering she attended the former actress' royal wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
The Quantico star even spoke about her closeness to the Duchess of Sussex in an interview with Us Weekly back in April 2018: "I’ve known Meghan for three years and I’m so happy the way the world has responded to her because as long as I’ve known her … she is a relatable young woman of the world today."
