John Cena spilled how his surprising appearance on Greta Gerwig’s Barbie as a merman came to being.
Speaking on Today, the former WWE star dubbed appearance as a "happy accident" as he drew comparisons to his work in Fast X.
"It was a happy accident and I think that Barbie and Fast X share a lot of parallels. The cast list is amazing, the Barbie cast list is amazing, the Fast X cast list is amazing," he said.
"So, with a lot of opportunity, it was a chance for maybe to [say], 'Hey, would you guys be willing to have me if I could do something?'"
Cena revealed to Hoda Kotb that he pitched himself for the movie after he ran into the movie's starring actress Margot Robbie.
In that meet up, the former pro wrestler shared that he was willing to do anything which was when he was pitched if he wanted to be a merman.
"[I] kind of [pitched myself] in an accidental run-in with Margot Robbie," he said.
Recalling the pitch he said: "I would do, pretty much, whatever you guys need 'cause I really enjoy the movie and they asked me if I wanted to be a merman."
Barbie is to release in cinemas on July 20.
The synopsis reads: "After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness."
