Netflix has cancelled Lockwood & Co. after one season.

The supernatural detective series, created by Joe Cornish under the Complete Fiction imprint and based on the same-named young adult novels by Jonathan Stroud, made its Netflix debut in January of this year.

It featured Ruby Stokes as Lucy Carlyle, a young ghost hunter with a troubled background who joins forces with Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman) and George Karim (Ali Hadji-Heshmati) to establish a ghost-busting business that specialises in dealing with dangerous ghosts.

As for Netflix was really satisfied with the programme and the effort put into it, the number of viewers fell short of what was required to approve a second season.

The company Cornish formed with Edgar Wright, Nira Park, and Rachael Prior—Complete Fiction—will still collaborate with Netflix. Many initiatives are already in development at the companies.

Complete Fiction praised Netflix, Stroud, the actors, crew, and the show's fans (who they referred to as the Lock Nation) for helping them bring the books to life and supporting the series in a statement, calling it "one of the most rewarding experiences of our careers" to create the show.

Additionally, it was announced in January that Netflix would not move forward with its plans to adapt Stuart Turton's The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle.
