Austin Butler is unrecognizable.
Austin Butler is changing for his upcoming significant film role; he is no longer Elvis.
In advance of the release of the teaser, the movie's official social media pages on Tuesday shared a video from Dune: Part Two, giving fans of the original novel their first look at Butler, 31, as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen.
Aside from showing heart-pounding footage of a person planting a device in Arrakis's desert to summon one of the planet's enormous sandworms, the movie footage shared on Twitter on Tuesday also teased glimpses at each of the main characters.
The teaser ended with a sight of Butler wearing a shaved head and eyebrows in his new villain character. The trailer also included Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Dave Bautista in the new film.
"Austin Butler brought to the screen something that would be a cross between a psychotic, sociopath serial killer and Mick Jagger," in a recent interview with Vanity Fair, director Denis Villeneuve discussed Butler's role in the picture film.
Butler plays Feyd-Rautha, a member of the Harkonnen family that killed Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac) and destroyed Paul's home on Arrakis in Dune: Part Two.
"He's someone Machiavellian, much more cruel, much more strategic, and is more narcissistic," Villeneuve said of the character, during a more thorough sneak peek of the impending science fiction epic.
Feyd-Rautha is Rabban's younger brother and the nephew of the Baron, the head of the Harkonnen dynasty who is portrayed by Bautista in Dune in 2021.
Feyd-Rautha is described as "a very clever, very charismatic figure" in contrast to Rabban, who the director previously claimed Vanity Fair is "not very intelligent."
"He wants to shine in front of his uncle, but there's something touching about Rabban because he's a bad strategist," the filmmaker said of the relationship between the two characters.
"He's not very intelligent. Rabban finds himself, at the end of part one, in the position where he doesn't have the brain to be able to manage and control all these operations."
"Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen is a very clever, very charismatic figure, and much more brilliant," he revealed of Butler's character.
