Olivia Wilde wowed the crowds with a stunning ensemble created by designer Gabriela Hearst of Chloé.

The ensemble was based on a 1983 design Karl created while leading the French house, which is also featured in the exhibit Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.

Wilde's nod to Lagerfeld was just one of many highlights of the star-studded event.

In 1983, Karl designed a Chloé dress inspired by a 17th century Italian luthier’s violin that featured a sculptural, black silhouette with a golden bugle and bead violin shape on the front.

Fast forward to 2023, Olivia Wilde wore a modern interpretation of the costume to the Met Gala, created by current Chloé designer Gabriela Hearst.

The updated version is white and gold, floor-length, and transformed from a cocktail dress to a gala outifit.

"What I loved about the original design was the musical inspiration of it, and the surrealistic touch on it,"  says Hearst.

"There was something quite timeless that we could bring back to the event in 2023."

Gabriela, the artist behind Olivia Wilde’s stunning Met Gala outfit, recently spoke about her admiration for the actor-director.

Hearst praised Wilde’s intelligence and beauty, calling the combination "irresistible."

She revealed that after seeing Wilde at an event before the Met Gala, she knew she wanted to gown her.

"I remember seeing her at an event and seeing this energy in her eyes, and I thought, I would like to dress her," Gabriela said.

The stylist added that Wilde was the perfect star to bring the revived vision of Karl Lagerfeld’s 1983 Chloé design to life.
