The Little Mermaid: Character Posters Released

The Little Mermaid has many friends.

A variety of character posters have been made available by Walt Disney Studios for The Little Mermaid, the live-action/CG hybrid remake of the cherished 1990s animated picture.

The live-action remake of a Disney animated classic, starring Halle Bailey in the title role and a star-studded ensemble that includes Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, is scheduled for release in one month.

There are great hopes for the new version because the original movie is still one of the most cherished and successful animated films of all time.

The posters show Javier Bardem as King Triton, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Bailey as Ariel together with McCarthy as Ursula, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric. According to Disney, the movie is as follows:

"The Little Mermaid" is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton's daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land but ultimately places her life – and her father's crown – in jeopardy.
