Pete Davidson embraces early mornings, breakfast in Taco Bell commercial

Pete Davidson, who was once known for staying up late on Saturday Night Live, is now a fan of the early hours and hearty breakfasts.

In a new commercial for Taco Bell released on Thursday, Davidson stars as Peter Davidson, a "toned down version" of himself, and touts the brand-new California breakfast crunch wrap.

"Good morning! I'm Peter Davidson, not Pete, because before 11 a.m. I like to keep it toned down and simple — just like Taco Bell breakfast with fluffy eggs, sausage melted cheese and a crispy hash brown and a grilled tortilla," he starts out the clip. "Nothing too wild, just like me, Peter Davidson."

The text "Breakfast with Peter" appear behind Davidson in the advertisement while he is dressed in a grey suit and glasses on what is supposed to be a mock morning show set.

The television set is only a ruse, though, as the camera quickly pans out to reveal that "Peter" is actually inside a Taco Bell restaurant.

"Isn't that right, co-host Rhonda?" he says to an employee behind the restaurant counter.

"Co-host?" she replies.

"You're on Breakfast with Peter. You're my co-host," he explains. Rhonda looks even more disconnected. "Are we on TV right now?" she asks.

"I don't know," he responds, now looking baffled himself. "I honestly don't know."

In a previous advertisement, Davidson discussed Taco Bell's breakfast selections; this year, he's putting the record straight.
