Bill Hader reveals unlikely blood relation to Carol Burnett: It's 'insane'

Bill Hader has connections that extend to Hollywood royalty and it’s “insane.”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 44-year-old actor revealed that Carol Burnett is his cousin.

“She emailed me,” the 3-time Emmy winner told the outlet. “Yeah, she emailed me and said, ‘Hey, we’re related.’ And I went, ‘What?’”

“I told my kids. I’m like, ‘We’re all related to Miss Hannigan,’ and they were like, ‘Ah!’” the Barry star revealed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, referring to Burnett’s character in the 1982 film Annie.

The pair were unveiled to be related in an episode of PBS’ Finding Your Roots.

Hader has since made good of the subject of conversation and remained in contact with Burnett.

“We’ve been texting and emailing and stuff,” he told Kimmel. “So it’s been really exciting. I hope I can, like, have dinner with her.”

Hader was introduced to perhaps one of his most embarrassing confessions when he was shown a clip during the interview, where he confessed to having a crush on the comedian.

“Hey, you can take the boy out of Oklahoma. You know what I’m saying? That’s the way it works. I knew there was something about her,” he quipped upon confrontation.

As for Burnett, the 89-year-old also offered her two cents on the unlikely family connection.

She appeared on the show last week, claiming that she was “thrilled” to be related to the SNL alum.
