Dove Cameron lost Glinda role to 'dear friend' Ariana Grande in Wicked

Dove Cameron has nothing but good things to say about Ariana Grande’s role in Wicked.

The singer, who also auditioned for the role of Glinda the Good Witch for the Jon M. Chu’s upcoming Wicked movies, gushed about Grande’s prospective portrayal.

"I'm so excited for Ariana," Cameron told The Wrap.

The Descendants star continued: "She's a genuinely dear friend of mine. We met when we were super young. I think she's gonna kill it. I think the whole cast is phenomenal head to toe. So, like, as a fan, I'm really, really excited to see it."

The Thank You, Next singer’s first look as the fantastical character was unveiled last week.

The 27-year-old actress recalled the “long” audition process she went through to land the part.

"I know that for everybody who did go out for it, it was a very long process," she said. "It was one of the longer processes I've been a part of."

What to Know About Wicked?

The upcoming Wizard of Oz prequel is set to star Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jonathan Bailey in the lead roles.

It will reportedly narrate the story of Elphaba and Glinda as they respectively become the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch.

It will probably release around Christmas 2024 and 2025.
