Since Daniel Craig's exit from his iconic James Bond role, the hunt for the next British Secret Service agent has begun.
Following the roaring success of Craig’s five movies, Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015) and No Time to Die (2021) creators are now on the hunt for a new face that will represent a new generation of the secret agent.
Speaking about the next James Bond star, casting director Debbie McWilliams, who has been behind some of the franchise’s most successful castings like Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Craig, shut down talks of Dwayne Johnson taking the role.
"He has to look like a regular guy – you can’t be Dwayne Johnson. He has to have a great physique – it demands a high level of fitness – but he shouldn’t stand out in any situation," she said according to Fandomwire.
McWilliams added that there are a lot of questions as to who will take on the new role while it was rumoured that the casting director had her eyes on Henry Cavill and Regé-Jean Page.
"There isn’t an absolute ideal mold. There never would be and never should be, because otherwise, it just becomes boring. It’s the best person for the job and one year it might be one person, one year somebody else – you can’t really predict," she said.
"There’s no conversation being had at the moment. Barbara Broccoli has been heavily involved in other projects. You know, it’s not unusual for there to be quite a big gap between different Bonds, it has been known to have a five-year gap. So, no, nothing."
