Ellie Goulding has laid bare her struggles with “debilitating” anxiety and difficult pregnancy during the pandemic.
In an interview with The Independent, the 36-year-old singer reflected on her years-long journey with anxiety, revealing that she “staved it off” in the past with “non-stop exercise.”
“It’s debilitating. I staved it off for years because I just exercised so much – I didn’t even notice because I was running so much. So when I stopped I was like, ‘Oh.’”
Goulding, who welcomed her first child, son Arthur with husband Caspar Jopling in April 2021, explained how being pregnant throughout COVID lockdown “sent my nervous system into overdrive,” which ended up making her anxiety more “excruciating.”
“I’m just going to keep trying stuff,” the singer shared, “since the pandemic, I don’t know a single person, actually, who doesn’t have anxiety.”
The Love Me Like You Do singer previously announced her new album titled, Higher Than Heaven was scheduled for release in February.
However, it was delayed for undisclosed reasons and pushed back to Mar. 24.
As the date approached, Goulding released a lengthy statement on Instagram, in which she apologized for yet another delay.
Higher Than Heaven was finally released on Friday.
