Keith Reid, whose thoughts could be heard with Procol Harum's music, has passed away. He was 76.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the English rock group Procol Harum announced the demise of the unparalleled lyricist, remembering him as someone who "wrote the words to virtually all Procol Harum songs" and whose "lyrics were one of a kind and helped to shape the music created by the band."
"His imaginative, surreal and multi-layered words were a joy to Procol fans and their complexity by design was a powerful addition the Procol Harum catalogue. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends," the statement added.
Reid "died suddenly" last Thursday in a hospital in London, as per the statement the band gave to the Los Angeles-based media outlet Sunset Blvd. Records. Reid had been getting cancer treatment "for the past couple of years."
Reid co-founded the rock band with frontman Gary Brooker, who also passed away from cancer on February 19, 2022, at the age of 76. Reid did not participate in the music group's performances.
