Jana Kramer has responded to the fans’ concerns for her kids in the wake of the horrifying Nashville shooting.
On Monday, the 39-year-old singer spoke to People, condemning the shooting at The Convent School in the city on the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards red carpet.
Three children and three adults were killed as a result of the shooting.
"People are like, 'Who are you wearing?' I'm like, 'I don't care. I want to go hug my kids right now," said Kramer.
The country singer shares two kids, son Jace, 4, and daughter Jolie, 7, with ex-husband Mike Caussin.
"Their dad picked them up at school, and they're good," she assured.
Although Kramer’s kids didn’t go to the Covenant School, the family has always been closely associated with the area.
The Nicest Thing singer noted that while she’s not afraid to return to her home state after the tragic incident, she expressed, "a parent should never have to fear dropping their kid off at school and not knowing if they're gonna pick them up."
"It's just not okay," she wailed. "I'm a big believer in prayer. I'm a big believer in all those things. We need Jesus, yes, but we need action too."
According to an update from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the shooter was identified as Audrey Hale, 28, who has also been a former student at the School.
