Zachary Levi revealed that Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam was initially expected to make a post-credit appearance

Zachary Levi has settled on rumours over Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam cameo being blocked in Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

After the DC Comics sequel emerged as a financial bomb following its March 17 release, talks began circulating about how marketing for the movie went south.

Among those reports, The Wrap claimed in a March 21 piece that Johnson had turned down an opportunity to feature a Black Adam scene with Levi’s character, a move which would have given Shazam 2 the much needed boost to pique interests.

As per sources, differences emerged when Johnson wanted his Black Adam character to change the "hierarchy of power in the DC universe" so that it would cater him and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

According to "high-level Hollywood insiders" the piece claimed that Johnson had "vetoed a planned post-credits scene in Black Adam, which would have seen Shazam recruited by Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, and other costumed heroes, into the Justice Society of America".

Therefore, the idea of having a Black Adam cameo was turned down.

Posting on Instagram Story he shared a screenshot of the aforementioned article captioning the post "The truth shall set you free. "

Why Shazam 2 failed

Levi's  stance on the down fall of Shazam 2 emerged to be the consequence of a failed marketing plan

In a post on Twitter, the actor  shared that the movie was not marketed as a family friendly movie and as a result, the DC sequel failed to pull in mass audiences.

"This is also true. Sad, but true. How much that actually affects the box office is anyone’s guess. But I think the biggest issue we’re having is marketing. This is a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families aren’t aware of that. Which is just a shame," Levi tweeted.
