Ben Affleck is happy to work with Jennifer Lopez.
The fact that Ben Affleck will be working with his wife Jennifer Lopez on a future project for his new production firm Artists Equity fills him with excitement.
Lopez's role in the company's next film Unstoppable was revealed by Affleck during his Sunday appearance on CBS Sunday Mornings with Matt Damon, who is also an Artists Equity co-founder, Air's co-star, and a close friend. Deadline had first reported Lopez's casting on Friday.
"I know where you're going with this. But I'm gonna tell you who the lead actor is," when questioned about Lopez's part in the movie, which will focus on the life of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born without a leg and won the national title in 2011 while wrestling for Arizona State University, Affleck responded.
According to Deadline, he will be portrayed by Moonlight actor Jharrel Jerome in the upcoming movie.
"We always hire the very best performers," Affleck told CBS Sunday Mornings when asked who else might star in the film.
"And in this case, I can say every single person that's been cast so far I think is the very absolute best choice."
Affleck grinned and remarked, "She may be doing that movie," in reference to Lopez, who most recently appeared in the romantic comedy/action film Shotgun Wedding.
He appreciated the chance to work alongside his wife during the interview, saying, "Can't make it look like she's doing it as a favour to me, but actually she is." He married his wife in Las Vegas in July 2022 after they famously rekindled their romance in 2021.
"What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend," Affleck told said, noting, "If you don't like who you're working with, and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it's one of the things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people."
"And conversely, [if] you love the people at work, you probably have a pretty good life, you know?" he added.
Billy Goldenberg, who previously collaborated with Affleck as an editor on his most recent film Air and Argo (2012), will be in charge of directing Unstoppable, according to Deadline. Robles, a three-time All-American in collegiate wrestling, is reported "heavily involved" with the film, according to the outlet.
