Rod Stewart has pulled the plug on the latest stop on his The Hits tour over the weekend.

The sad development came after the 78-year-old singer revealed that he has caught a “viral infection” that affected his throat and voice.

He was slated to perform at A Day on the Green, a food, wine, and music festival in Victoria, Australia.

"Hello my friends," he started in the statement. "I'm absolutely downhearted that I'm disappointing my fans who bought tickets to A Day On The Green. Late this morning I was advised that I have a viral infection and my throat is too irritated to sing."

The Grammy winner went on to note that he’s “only human” and “sometimes get sick just like you do.”

He continued: “My greatest joy is performing for you, so I'm doing everything I can to get on the mend and back on stage!”
