Meghan Markle's due date had passed which frustrated the press

The Firm had reportedly pressurised Meghan Markle after she passed her delivery due date when pregnant with her first child Archie.

This claim emerged in Prince Harry's memoir Spare, where he detailed that the Duchess of Sussex was being forced to get something done for her birth as the media were growing "impatient".

Harry penned in his memoir: "When Meg was a week past her due date, the comms team and the Palace began pressuring me. When’s the baby coming? The press can’t wait forever, you know. Oh."

He adds: "The press is getting frustrated? Heaven forbid! Meg’s doctor had tried several homeopathic ways to get things moving, but our little visitor was just intent on staying put.

"I don’t remember if we ever tried Granny’s suggestion of a bumpy car ride. Finally we said: Let’s just go and make sure nothing’s wrong. And let’s be prepared in case the doctor says it’s time."

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's son Archie almost died

The Duchess of Sussex spoke in her Archetypes podcast to narrate how Archie narrowly escaped a fire while they were away on the their royal tour to South Africa back in 2019.

Meghan shared that she was shaken when informed that a fire broke out in Archie's room.

She said: "There was this moment where I’m standing on a tree stump and I’m giving this speech to women and girls, and we finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say there’s been a fire at the residence. What? There’s been a fire in the baby’s room."

She added: "We came back. And, of course, as a mother, you go, 'Oh, my God, what?' Everyone’s in tears, everyone’s shaken. And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement. I said, 'This doesn’t make any sense'."

However Archie remained unhurt as his nanny had taken him downstairs when the heater in the nursery room had caught fire.
