Keanu Reeves weighs in on future of DC's Constantine

Keanu Reeves is fortunately still part of the DCVerse despite its overhaul in recent days.

The new CEOs of the franchise James Gunn and Peter Safran pretty much canceled all the pre-planned movies and unveiled a brand new slate in an attempt to reboot the universe.

It was reported last month that the new owners had spared the previously announced sequel to the 2005 film Constantine starring Keanu Reeves, amid a slew of scraps.

However, the 58-year-old actor is not so sure about it.

Speaking to Collider ahead of the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves said, "DC world [is] re-evaluating whether or not they want to do a Constantine with me in the movie… So fingers crossed!"

Constantine follows the story of an eponymous detective, renowned for his miserable and cynical personality as well as his superpower to interact with humans and otherworldly creatures.

Francis Lawrence is Skeptical About Constantine Sequel:

The director of the first movie also expressed his concern over the latest DC reboot, explaining that the right issues around the character could present difficulties in making the sequel.

"It's something that we've been talking about since we made Constantine because we all loved it. So we've been talking about it, talking about it, talking about it,” he shared.

He continued: “All the DC [properties], because Vertigo is part of DC, that sort of like the control of those properties got complicated with Warner Bros. with DC, with JJ [Abrams]'s deal, you know, all those kinds of things.

“There's a lot of complicating factors. So it was never Akiva, and Keanu, and I happen to be sort of convinced to do it. It was really trying to figure out how we can get some sort of control over the Constantine character again."
