Oscars 2023: On average how much do celebrities spend on Oscar dresses?

On Sunday, March 12, the 95th Academy Awards will be held in the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Everything Everywhere at Once and The Fabelman are the front-runners for many prizes.

But, the red carpet is set to steal the show for once another year, as celebrities pose in their expensive gowns, some of which cost millions of euros.

How worthy are celebrities' Oscars outfits?

Let's go over the steps involved in selecting the clothes and wearing them on the red carpet at the Oscars before talking about the cost of the dresses.

Cosmetologists, hairdressers, stylists, and makeup artists collaborate to get the actresses in shape three months prior to the ceremony.

In order to prevent their client from wearing the same outfit, the stylist is responsible for knowing which gowns the actresses will all wear. In case of emergency, they also have a backup group.

It should be emphasised that prominent designers like Dior, Versace, and Armani are willing to pay for the clothes themselves, so the actresses do not pay for them.

The most costly dresses ever worn at the Oscars:

  • Jennifer Lawrence in 2013 (God): four million dollars
  • Nicole Kidman in 1997 (Dior): two million dollars
  • Cate Blanchett in 2007 (Armani Prive): 200,000 dollars
  • Elizabeth Taylor in 1970 (Edith Head): 167,500 dollars
  • Lupita Nyong'o in 2015 (Calvin Klein): 150,000 dollars
  • Audrey Hepburn in 1954 (Givenchy): 131,292 dollars
  • Cate Blanchett in 2014 (Armani Prive): 100,000 dollars
  • Charlize Theron in 2013 (Dior): 100,000 dollars
  • Kate Winslet in 2007 (Valentino): 100,000 dollars
  • Jessica Biel in 2014 (Chanel): 100,000 dollars
