Elon Musk apologizes to Twitter employee for calling his disability an 'excuse'

Elon Musk has landed in hot water over his insensitive remarks toward a disabled person.

Icelandic entrepreneur Halli Thorleifsson, a differently-abled man, sent a tweet to the CEO of Twitter, asking him if he was still employed at the social media platform after he was locked out of his work’s computer system.

He also claimed that the HR department hadn’t responded to him in over a week.

The billionaire took to the platform to reply to Thorleifsson, quizzing him about his work ethic and need for accommodation as well as directly questioning his disability.

“The reality is that this guy (who is independently wealthy) did no actual work, claimed as his excuse that he had a disability that prevented him from typing, yet was simultaneously tweeting up a storm. Can't say I have a lot of respect for that,” Musk tweeted.

Other social media users slammed the Tesla mogul over his insensitivity as one of them expressed: “Congratulations on helping him prove to a court you discriminate against disabled people.”

Meanwhile, another rebuked: “You are a terrible person and the sooner you are gone from managing this site the better it will be for everyone.”

Elon Musk Apologizes to his Former Employee:

After a heated exchange, the entrepreneur ended up sending an apology tweet to the former employee, writing, “I would like to apologize to Halli for my misunderstanding of his situation. It was based on things I was told that were untrue or, in some cases, true, but not meaningful.”

“He is considering remaining at Twitter,” he added.
