Britney Spears Sells Calabasas Home losing millions

Britney Spears made a deal of loss.

Around $2 million less than the actor paid for it, the seven-bedroom, nine-bath, 11,600 square foot mansion sold for just over $10 million.

According to Variety's Dirt, Spears, 40, bought the house for $11.8 million just days after she wed Sam Asghari, 28, in June. She listed it alongside Compass' Bryce Pennel in January for $12 million.

According to a source who spoke to PEOPLE, Spears was thrilled with the house when she first bought it.

"Britney loves her new house. She picked it out with Sam," the insider said. "She wanted a fresh start with Sam. It's been very important to her to have a home that she picked up without having to ask for approval from [dad Jamie Spears]."

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Spears herself noted the house while lamenting the challenges of balancing home purchase with a wedding that was only a few days away.

"Haven't been on my honeymoon yet … got married and moved into a new house around the same time … not the smartest thing to do … oh well it's coming together," she wrote.

The home is a one-story contemporary Mediterranean design on a 1.6-acre site. It has dramatic double-entry doors that open onto a spacious lobby with 33-foot ceilings.

Beautiful mountain vistas may be seen from the mosaic-tiled pool's waterfall and jacuzzi in the backyard. There is also a one-bedroom guest house and a covered, heated terrace with an outdoor kitchen.

The chef's kitchen features a large walk-in pantry, various food prep places, a centre island with hand-carved embellishments, and a wraparound breakfast bar.

A private home theatre room with surround sound has theatre-style seating and a stunning gilded tray ceiling.

The master bedroom of Spears' home features a fireplace, a sitting space, two wood cabinets, walk-in closets, and a shower with two entries.

There are also numerous formal and informal living areas, a home office, a gift-wrapping room, a wine cellar, and maid's quarters.
