Among the many arrangements that are being made ahead of King Charles III’s coronation, it was revealed that Andrew Lloyd Webber has created the anthem for the mega-event.

Known for his works in blockbuster musicals like Evita, Cats and The Phantom of the Opera, his latest piece is an adaptation of church music that will be used to make "joyful noise" with words from Psalm 98.

"I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion," he said in a statement via Buckingham Palace.

His work is among some dozen new songs that the monarch commissioned for the event that will be held at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

The coronation ceremony will seek to blend older and news compositions in an effort to bridge the traditional with the modern as a reflection of modern Britain.

"The decision to combine old and new reflects the cultural breadth of the age in which we live," Organist and master of choristers at Westminster Abbey Andrew Nethsingha said.

"Coronations have taken place in Westminster Abbey since 1066. It has been a privilege to collaborate with his majesty in choosing fine musicians and accessible, communicative music for this great occasion," Nethsingha said.
