Warner Bros. has pulled the plug on yet another of its successful shows.
According to reports, the drama series Judge Mathis and The People’s Court will end their run following the end of their current seasons.
The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the decision was made due to the “challenging market in the daytime syndication landscape.”
Beginning in 1998, Judge Mathis follows Judge Greg Mathis who is equipped with the responsibility of laying down the law and delivering sentences to the accused.
The courtroom drama won a Daytime Emmy Award for the outstanding program in 2018.
The People’s Court, which premiered in 1997, has been the recipient of four Daytime Emmy Awards for outstanding legal programs.
It follows Judge Marilyn Milian, a former Florida prosecutor, who decides on actual small-claims court cases.
While there is no official reason provided by the production company behind their decision, it is reported that Judge Mathis and The People’s Court have been one of the longest-running shows on television, making them more prone to ongoing competition with newer shows.
The end of these shows comes following the cancelation of other daytime talk shows, including The Wendy Williams Show, Dr. Phil, The Real, Dr. Oz, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
