Jerry Jarrett is death.
Jerry Jarrett, a renowned wrestling promoter best known for establishing the Continental Wrestling Association in 1977 in Memphis, has reportedly passed away at the age of 80.
Longtime CWA performer Dutch Mantell broke the news on Twitter, and Pro Wrestling Insider later confirmed it. Mark James, a Memphis Wrestling historian, made the initial statement.
"I'm hearing reports of my friend and long time booker/promoter Jerry Jarrett died this morning in TN," Mantell tweeted.
"I last saw him last year when we did the Vice show The Territories in Atlanta. Very creative booker. Condolences to Jeff/Deborah and the Jarrett family."
The cause of death has not yet been disclosed by the Jarrett family, although podcaster Conrad Thompson claimed Jarrett had been battling oesophagal cancer in a recording with Jarrett's son, AEW wrestler Jeff Jarret, that was made earlier today and made public.
