Kristen Bell reveals her daughters know 'daddy is an addict': 'It's shocking'

Kristen Bell opened up about the unique dynamic she has enforced in her family of four.

During an appearance on REAL SIMPLE’s first-ever celebrity cover, the 42-year-old actress revealed being honest with her kids is one of the keys to healthy parenting.

"I hate the word 'taboo.' I think it should be stricken from the dictionary," she told the outlet. "There should be no topic that's off the table for people to talk about."

The Frozen star noted the conversations she and her husband Dax Shepherd have with her daughters – Delta, 8, and Lincoln, 9½, might be “shocking” for some.

However, she shared that it’s always how it has been in her home.

"I know it's shocking, but I talk to my kids about drugs and the fact that their daddy is an addict and he's in recovery, and we talk about sex," claimed Bell.

"There are all these 'hard topics' that don't have to be if you give the person on the other end your vulnerability and a little bit of credit," she added.
