Rickey Smiley's comedian son Brandon passes away at 32
The cause of Rickey's late son hasn't been made public
Rickey Smiley’s eldest son Brandon Smiley has passed away.
The 54-year-old comedian took to Instagram Sunday, Jan. 29, to upload a video of him on his way to his hometown of Birmingham, Atlanta.
"I just had bad news this morning. I'm on the way to the airport to get to Birmingham. I just want everybody to pray for me, pray for our family," Rickey said. "My son, Brandon Smiley, has passed away this morning."
Brandon was 32 years old.
The radio personality did not reveal the cause of his late son’s death.
"I'm OK," Rickey continued in his video. "Pray for my son's mother and my son's siblings."
He added, "Now I see what my granddaddy went through and why he felt the way he felt. My granddaddy went through this [expletive] with my dad and somehow, here I am going through the same thing my grandparents went through. So just pray for our family."
Besides Rickey, Brandon is survived by his mother Brenda, brother Malik, three sisters, and daughter Storm, 3.
