For the time being, the Madonna movie is no longer working because her total focus is on lately announced world tour and nothing else.
Variety claimed on Tuesday, citing several sources, that Universal Pictures' biography, which the famous pop diva, 64, co-wrote, produced, and directed, is not progressing in its development. In the future, Madonna still plans to film a biopic on her life, but for the time being she wants to concentrate on her recently announced The Celebration Tour.
The Madonna movie project was reported to be in "active development" and Ozark Emmy winner Julia Garner was the choice to play Madonna in the biography" by a source in June, according to People magazine.
The Uncut Gems actress Julia Fox, who was apparently in talks to play the singer's longtime friend Debi Mazar, would have joined Garner, 28 if she had been cast. Mazar is an actress most known for her roles in Empire Records, Goodfellas, and Younger on TV.
Back in October 2021, Madonna declared that she was nearly finished with the script.
"Grateful for the success of Madame, that my script is almost finished, and for the support of my beautiful children!" the mother of six captioned a series of selfies on Instagram at the time showed herself sitting in front of her typed screenplay.
