Austin Butler 'wishes' Lisa Marie Presley 'was here to celebrate' Oscar nod

Austin Butler is having mixed feelings about getting nominated for his role in Elvis at Oscars 2023.

During an appearance on the Today show, the 31-year-old actor got emotional while discussing his recent recognition in the wake of the death of Lisa Marie Presley.

Butler has received the Best Actor nomination for his performance as Elvis Presley in the biopic Elvis.

"It's sort of a bittersweet moment right now because I think of how much I wish she was here right now to get to celebrate with me,” he shared, adding that he feels the “same thing” with Elvis, wishing they could be here during moments like these.

"It's just sort of strange to celebrate at a time of such deep grief. But I sort of think of it as a way to honour her. This is for her," Butler added.

Lisa Marie Presley died on Jan. 12 after suffering two cardiac arrests.

Lisa and Austin last reunited at the Golden Globe Awards earlier that week.
