The upcoming biopic based on music sensation Madonna has reportedly been scrapped.
As per reports, the project which was in development under Universal Pictures will no longer be made.
Madonna herself was going to direct the film, with Julia Garner playing the role of the pop star in it.
Although the exact reason for dropping the project is not clear, Madonna’s upcoming world tour has been speculated as the reason.
“Her sole focus Is the tour, but she remains committed to making a film about her life one day,” sources close to the singer told Variety.
The 64-year-old singer announced a breakthrough world tour last week, comprising of sold-out shows in New York, London, Paris, and more.
The scrapped biopic was first announced in 2020, however, it didn’t land confirmation until the end of 2022.
According to reports, Florence Pugh, Alexa Demie, Odessa Young, and Bebe Rexha were among the many actresses who auditioned for the role of the songstress.
