Netflix gears up to convert Geek Girl into Young-adult series

Geek Girl, a Netflix original series based on a British book about a geeky kid starting her modelling career, is getting ready to go into production.

Geek Girl, a 10-part season that will be adapted for the streaming service from Holly Smale's series of novels, is scheduled to start production later in 2023 with a Canadian-British co-production.

The official storyline of the series suggests, "Geek Girl tells the story of awkward, neurodiverse teenager Harriet Manners whose life is turned upside down when she is spotted to be a model and embarks on a life-affirming journey of self-discovery as she balances high school and high fashion."

A production company founded by writer and producer Jeff Norton called Waterside Studios will be in charge of developing the television show.

For the unversed, Harper Collins published The Geek Girl novels, which have been translated into more than 30 languages. The TV show will be available to watch on Netflix worldwide.
