Is Taco Bell selling Rat poison in their tacos?

According to Brian Maass of CBS Colorado, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is conducting an "open and active investigation" into how rat poison got into a man's to-go order of burritos at a Taco Bell restaurant in the Denver suburb of Aurora on Sunday.

"Right now what we're looking at is if the rat poison was actually put into his food at the restaurant. We don't know if it was, at this point in time," Sheriff Deputy John Bartmann told the station, adding that the case is categorized as "criminal attempt homicide."

Both Bartmann and the restaurant manager, Lary Swift, told CBS Colorado that a guy entered the establishment on Sunday at 1 p.m. and quarrelled with staff members regarding his lunch order.

Swift claimed that the patron "wanted something free" and was furious that the restaurant's drink station was broken. Swift claimed that the patron argued with both restaurant staff and other patrons. She claimed that the man was a frequent customer who had previously caused issues. She claimed that he once tossed a burrito at a worker.

Swift claimed that after placing an order for three bean burritos, he received a free fourth one.

The man ate food from the restaurant at around 7 o'clock, "became violently ill," and dialled 911, according to Bartmann. He was sent to a local hospital for treatment.

"That hospital said they had a patient who has possibly consumed rat poison in his food from the same restaurant," said Bartmann.

Bartmann refused to unleash the man's identity but said enough rat poison was found in the burritos that "it would have been very serious to our victim's health."
