Julian Sands actor goes missing in San Gabriel Mountains while hiking

Julian Sands is missing.

One of the two hikers who recently went missing in California's San Gabriel Mountains has been identified as British actor Julian Sands.

Since Sands was reported missing in the Mt. Baldy region on Friday, search and rescue teams have been hunting for him, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Sands, 65, is well-known for his roles in numerous movies and TV shows, including "A Room With a View" (1985), "Naked Lunch" (1991), "Warlock" (1989), "Snakehead" (2003), and many others. Sands, who was born in the UK, resides in North Hollywood.

According to a spokesperson for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, ground teams were removed from the mountain on Saturday night because of the possibility of avalanches and hazardous trail conditions.

Helicopters and drones have been used to continue the search, and ground searches will resume when the weather and security are better.

The spokeswoman warned that the Mt. Baldy region is currently “much too dangerous, even for the skilled hiker,” and asked people to stay away from it.

According to ABC News, authorities are also looking for Bob Gregory, a hiker from Hawthorne who was reported missing by his family on Monday afternoon.
