BMW has decided to stop supplying patrol cars to Britain’s police forces after police officer, Nick Dumphreys, was killed in a crash caused by a faulty vehicle.
The decision, however, caused late police officer’s widow Kathryn Dumphreys to fire back at the National Police Chiefs’ Council for the "appalling and insulting" move to not withdraw the car model responsible for her husband’s death from their service sooner.
This comes after Nick died while responding to an emergency on January 26, 2020.
His car’s N57 engine reportedly suffered from "catastrophic failure" that resulted in an oil leak prior to his car crash that led to his death.
Similar faults were previously reported in other vehicles’ engine around five to seven times a month between 2014 to 2017.
